Quentin Lewis, better known as “Knowledge,” was arrested and convicted of robbery and sentenced to 12 1/12 to 25 years. While serving his time, he was wrongfully accused and convicted of taking part in an assault of another inmate which ended fatally. The true perpetrator of this crime testified in sworn affidavits that Mr. Lewis didn’t partake in the fight which led to a man’s death. As a result of this injustice, 25 additional years was added to his sentence. Not to be deterred by this situation, Lewis, an ideal prisoner, obtained a Liberal Arts Degree from Cornell University, and began helping other incarcerated individuals with legal support as a jailhouse lawyer in the law library. Through it all, it was Knowledge of Self and his writing that kept him sane of mind, helping him to maintain through 25 years of incarceration. When asked, Lewis states, "writing was my therapy.
